1: The one thing in the Singularity reading that I found the most "disturbing" was that 70-80% of the jobs will be gone in the next 20 or so years. I picked this prediction because that basically means our entire economic system will be under enormous strain and I might not have income.
2: THe job fair was authentic in the sense that we had an interview. However, in basically every other way it was unrealistic including that we knew the people interviewing us, and the setting was similar to speed dating. I learned that I still need to work on not talking super fast, which I do sometimes because people don't always fully understand what I'm saying.
3: I would say that advertising both shapes and reflects our society. It shapes it because advertising is everywhere and thus, inescapable(and not just in terms of economics, but also how people dress, talk, etc.) and therefore has the potential to, and does influence how people feel, act, and make decisions. It also reflects society because advertising not matter what it looks like is has the end goal of achieving something. Yes, I do think there is good, tolerable, and bad advertising, but how people perceive an advertisement reflects society.
