When choosing my symbol and phrase, I wanted to do something really simple. Not because I felt lazy but because over complication often leads to confusion. I went with "Always," from Harry Potter because I always am wanting to try and find myself and I am loyal to my friends. I did the crossed swords to reflect this in a simple yet directly reflective manner.
Twisted Logo:
We looked at the logo art of Andy Warhol and saw how when he teamed up with Basquiat that Basquiat painted over whatever Warhol did with his own version. We then took a known logo/symbol and put a twist on it. I used the LBGTQ+ pride flag and added an extra line for the Asexual spectrum. I was feeling a bit politically rebellious on the day I painted this.
Basquiat Imitation:
For this piece we looked around Jeremy's room (and the internet) for a Basquiat art piece and then tried to make a copy of it. I personally wanted to do something simple and attempted to imitate untitled piece from one of Basquiat's notebooks.
Basquiat Imitation of a Portriat:
We did this after we complete an imitation of a Basquiat art piece. We took a famous portrait created by another artist and made a Basquiat version of it. I made a version of Banksy's "Balloon Girl."
