The Greek Theater Play Project
At the beginning of this project, we were put into 6-7 groups of three. In these groups, we had to create our own original play. The product we had to make included, a final script up to scene 2(about half way through the play), and a storyboard which displayed all of our scenes and explained who the characters were. While we were doing all this, we read last years winning plays script as well as Antigone by Sophocles. When we had finished everything, we then looked at all the other groups plays and voted on our favorite which we would preform on stage. When we had finished the voting, the winning play was, "Inner Demons". We then set about writing the final script, rehearsing lines, and making props. I was one of the three directors working on the script. This was probably the most stressful project I've ever done, but it was also my favorite. I think this is because we all collaborated and all really focused on making this play the best it could be.
After the final performance, the awards were handed out(judges had seen another performance a night earlier). Our classes play didn't winner "Overall best play", but we did get, "Best director", "Best script", and one of our actresses got "Best supporting actress"! I thought that we all did an awesome job and I learned that even a hard project can be a whole lot of fun.
